പന്തലിട്ടു വളര്‍ത്തുന്ന പച്ചക്കറികളാണ് പടവലം, പാവല്‍ എന്നിവ. ഇവ നടാന്‍ പറ്റിയ സമയമാണിപ്പോള്‍. വേനല്‍ക്കാലത്തും നല്ല വിളവ് തരുന്ന ഇവയെ കീടങ്ങളും രോഗങ്ങളും കൂടുതലായി ആക്രമിക്കും. വള്ളി വീശി നല്ല പോലെ വളര്‍ന്നാലും കായ് പിടിക്കാതെ മുരടിച്ചു പോകുന്നത് ഈ വിളകളുടെ സ്ഥിരം പ്രശ്നമാണ്. ഇതിനുള്ള പരിഹാരമാര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍ നോക്കാം. **വിത്തില്‍ തുടങ്ങണം ശ്രദ്ധ** നടാനുള്ള വിത്ത് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു മുതല്‍ ശ്രദ്ധ ചെലുത്തിയാല്‍ മാത്രമേ നല്ല വിളവ് ലഭിക്കൂ. നല്ല മൂത്ത കായ്കളില്‍ നിന്നു വേണം വിത്ത് ശേഖരിക്കാന്‍. ഇതു ചെറിയ ചൂടുവെള്ളത്തില്‍ നാലോ അഞ്ചോ മണിക്കൂറിട്ടു വയ്ക്കുക. ഇതിനു ശേഷം വേണം നടാന്‍. ട്രേകളിലോ മറ്റോ നട്ട ശേഷം രണ്ടില പരുവമാകുമ്പോള്‍ മാറ്റി നടുന്നതാണു നല്ലത്. **വളര്‍ന്നു തുടങ്ങിയാല്‍** കൂടുതല്‍ ഇലകളുണ്ടായി വള്ളി വീശി തുടങ്ങിയാല്‍ ഇടയ്ക്ക് സ്യൂഡോമോണസ് പ്രയോഗിക്കണം. വെള്ളത്തില്‍ കലക്കി തടത്തിലൊഴിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുകയും ഇലകളില്‍ സ്േ്രപ ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യാം. പച്ചച്ചാണകം തെളിയെടുത്ത് തടത്തിലൊഴിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും നല്ലതാണ്. നിലത്താണ് നട്ടതെങ്കില്‍ തടം കയറ്റി കൊടുക്കണം. കളകള്‍ പറിച്ച് ഉണങ്ങിയ ചാണകപ്പൊടിയിട്ട് തടത്തില്‍ മണ്ണിട്ടു കൊടുക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതാണ്. **കീടങ്ങളെ തുരത്താന്‍** വള്ളികള്‍ പന്തലില്‍ കയറി കായ്കളുണ്ടാകാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയാല്‍ നിരവധി പ്രാണികള്‍ പറന്നെത്തി ആക്രമണം തുടങ്ങും. കായീച്ചയാണ് ഇതില്‍ പ്രധാന വില്ലന്‍. കായം കലക്കി തളിച്ചു കൊടുത്താല്‍ ഒരു പരിധി വരെ കീടങ്ങളുടെ ആക്രമണം തടയാം. 20 ഗ്രാം കായം ഒരു ലിറ്റര്‍ വെള്ളത്തിലെന്ന തോതില്‍ ഇലകളിലും പൂക്കളിലും കായ്കളിലുമെല്ലാം നന്നായി സ്്രേപ ചെയ്യണം. ഉറുമ്പ് പോലുള്ള ചെറിയ കീടങ്ങള്‍ പിന്നെ സമീപ പ്രദേശത്തേക്ക് വരില്ല. കായം രാത്രി വെള്ളത്തിലിട്ടു വച്ചു പിറ്റേ ദിവസം ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയാണ് നല്ലത്. നല്ല പോലെ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ അലിഞ്ഞു ചേരാനിതു സഹായിക്കും. കഞ്ഞിവെള്ളക്കെണി, തുളസിക്കെണി എന്നിവ പന്തലില്‍ തൂക്കുന്നതും കായീച്ചകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും.
